To all our wonderful students,

100% 90-MIN FREE LESSON to CELEBRATE one year ONLINE!

Pushed by the Covid crisis to do so, one year ago we embarked into a journey of teaching tango group lessons online, something that we never did before. Little did we know that a year later, we would still teach online – with the end of the crisis in view.

On the way, we received incredible support from so many dancers, from all over the globe – from Asia – Japan, Korea, China, Vietnam and more to Argentina and wider South America, from the US to Canada and Mexico, from the UK to wider Europe and places further afield, such as Jordan or New Zealand and new Caledonia.

As a huge, heartfelt thank you, we organise this free lesson for all, starting as usual by the first part (Beginners and Improvers) and followed by the second part (Intermediates and Up). We will teach a ‘best of’, a selection of lessons during the last year.

Date and Time: 01/03/2020. MILONGA LOS ANGELITOS: 4.30pm – 7pm with DJ Bruno, followed by Martín’s tango concert, 7pm – 8pm.

Martín’s UK tour will be part of his 47th international tour performing as a soloist and takes in concerts in Finland, Italy, Spain and Russia, where he will be performing in a spectacular tango tribute at the 8,000 seat Kremlin Palace Concert Hall in Moscow for the fifth year in a row.

His concerts in Finland include dates with Finnish with whom Alvarado released a new album, Alma, together with pianist Alexi Tuomarila and jazz sax Eero Koivistoinen, and performed a sell-out concert in Buenos Aires at Centro Cultural Kirchner, then performed the album at Uruguay’s Teatro Solis, in Montevideo.

He also released Barquitos de Papel, an album dedicated to the work of tango poet Homero Expósito.

In December 2019, Alvarado was named “Academico” (Maestro) by the National Academy of Tango in Buenos Aires in recognition of his distinguished career.

Alvarado has an unforgettable warm tenor voice with incredible nuance and colour, and his performances always delight the audiences. Buenos Aires-born Alvarado discovered his talent to sing at a young age and counts Stevie Wonder and Deep Purple’s Glenn Hughes as inspirations. OMG, has it been 8 years already?

After a few years in the making, mid 2011, we officially launched Tanguito, Argentine Tango Academy, with the idea of providing tango classes with a yearly curriculum, a milonga (which actually started in 2014, we called it Los Angelitos), free class videos for students, trips to Buenos Aires and beyond. I still remember our very first private student – we had a cat back then, and the cat had decided to interfere with the lesson in a systematic (and efficient) way. It was a lot of fun, to avoid this cheeky moving feline – a bit like in a crowded milonga with unruly dancers, but with an added moving tail for extra challenge.

8 years later, here we are, thanks to you – on the way we added a clothing collection (now being sold in Buenos Aires), a London festival, a trip to Japan, and a few other things to make sure we are never unoccupied.

So, a big thank you for your continued support. Long live tango in London! We hope you can join our party on the 6th of October.
