Part of the official 2024 U.K. PRELIMINARIES & CHAMPIONSHIPS, we are proud to welcome legend and 2013 Tango World Champion Maximiliano Cristiani together with Championships finalist Ayse Gencalp. The maestros will team up to give 5 workshops and perform at U.K.’s biggest tango event of the year!

Workshop 1: MILONGUERO SYSTEM INTENSIVE
Immmensely useful! Let a tango world champion reveal his secrets and resources for dancing in small spaces, enhancing the full embrace, using different connection engines and working on different types of music – all for a fuller connection. As Maxi puts it: “Dancing Milonguero is not about ̈style, it is about interpretation”.
Workshop 2: CREATIVITY & MAXIMUM EXPRESSION: CO-CREATION IN TANGO
Learn from a champion their personal technique to take your tango to the next level: co-creation and in the process, enhance and develop your creativity so it becomes the very best it can be.
The co-creation tool: learn to understand how to commnuicate lead as a follower and to understand and respond to following as a leader. We will redefine how tango is communicated and co-created, where both roles can propose a sequence. We will also discover that this co-creation is about the evolution of tango: you will learn the language to guide sequences being a follower and following sequences proposed by the follower, but being a leader.

Workshop 3: SUPERCHARGE YOUR MUSICALITY WITH A CHAMPION
Time to play! Understand on a deeper level, different musical concepts applied to tango. Smoothly interpret melodic and rhythmic modes, apply the fundamentals to different time signatures from “double time” to “Contratiempo”, “Sincopas” and more, and discover how and when to apply linear and circular movements.
Workshop 4: MAGNIFY YOUR TANGO: FROM SACADAS TO INFINITY
Combine different resources to add excitement and style to your dancing, using sacadas, barridas, boleos and embellishments; learn how to interpret the mighty variaciones.

Workshop 5: DIAMOND LESSONS
These are the most important lessons, working for all levels, up to advanced. We will work on the key structures of tango as a way of redesigning our dance and its fundamental functionality and placing about comfort of both leader and follower as a priority. We will cover: posture, abrazo, connection, our secret tips for moving in space and walking together, foundational leading and following, melodic and rhythmical ochos, and close & rolling embrace. Unmissable tips and technique from a world champion!

With over 22 years of experience dancing, teaching, performing and directing around the world. He is considered one of the great teachers of today, known for his charisma, ability and system to teach, in the last 22 years he has managed to accompany hundreds of students in professional development, either in competitions or in their dance. He, undoubtedly knows how to discover the greatest potential in each student. His intense work does not end in teaching, he has produced a number of Tango films such as Tigre Viejo, RECUERDO en LA VIRUTA, and ANGEL. Considered the tango dancer with the most titles obtained in the championships. Organiser or judge at the official preliminaries of the World Championship, in UK, Philippines, Sao Paulo, Brazil, Malaysia amongst others.

Ayse, one of the finalists in the Metropolitan Tango Championship in 2012 and 2016, an inspiring, exciting and beautiful dancer for a number of prestigious dance companies including Roberto Herrera dancer company, Johana Copes ‘Sello De Tango’ and Señor Tango. Her vast experience leads her to become one of the inspiring and exciting dancers, performers and teachers around Europe, Asia and South America.
