Tanguito’s 6th Anniversary Party

By |July 12th, 2017|

It’s been an amazing adventure we had with you and hundreds or passionate tango dancers! Is it possible to summarise 6 years of tango love? OK, let’s try…

Thanks to you we’ve taken a few tango steps in the last years: Tango workshops and private tuition every day, a weekly milonga, a tango fashion range (to date, nearly a thousand orders sent to 25 countries!), a yearly London festival (the ‘CHE’) now in its fourth edition, tango holidays to Buenos Aires and Japan, and of course working with stunning talents including Juan Martin Carrara and Stefania Colina, Daniel Naccuchio and Cristina Sosa and many more. And more importantly, so many friendships developed.

So let’s celebrate these 6 years, and Nati’s birthday (turning 18 this month… humm more or less…) with a grand afternoon of tango, cakes and friendship.

PROGRAMME: SUNDAY 23.07 at LOS ANGELITOS

» 2pm Beginner & Improver class
» 3pm Intermediate & Advanced workshop, THEME: steps and combinations that Nati loves! (It’s her birthday after all, but rest assured, you will love these steps!)
» 4.30pm to 8pm: MILONGA. A huge birthday cake. Party. And lots of tandas.
» Entry: £12 for the class, £16 for the workshop (incl. milonga), £8 for the milonga.
» Non dancers are welcome: we will open the second hall (practice hall) so they can try their first tango steps if they like!
» LOCATION: Unity Hall, 277A Upper st., Angel N1 2TZ (Angel tube)

» And so we can plan enough cake and drinks for everyone, please confirm your attendance by sending us a quick RSVP MAIL >.

♪ Tuesday Tanda – Ángel D’agostino (tango)

By |July 11th, 2017|

To celebrate the birth of the great tango poet Enrique Cadícamo on July 15, 1900, here's a tanda with one of his beautiful compositions - Tres esquinas. By the way, you might have noticed we liked D'Agostino a looooot! :-)

Dimension: Energy - Theme: Boleos

Boleos are high energy steps which come from a change of direction. In this class, we started with a simple boleo combination for the beginners. We then looked at a high back boleo which can be used in milongas as it is led within the embrace and we closed the class with a forward boleo.

Dimension: Energy - Theme: Varying the energy of rebounds

Rebounds are by nature quite energetic but in this class, we looked at how to vary the energy of this classic step. We started with a simple rebound on both sides for the beginners and then moved on to a slow romantic rebound in parallel system and a couple of challenging versions in cross system.

Dimension: Energy - Theme: Varying the energy at the cross

The cross is such a classic step, it's nice to know ways to play with it to match the music. We started the class with the salida cruzada. We then moved to a step called la salida de los cuarentas, we also added 2 adornments at the cross and last finished with an original cross/sandwich step that we are very fond of.

Closing your eyes: cierra los ojos

By |June 30th, 2017|

The Argentines often use the word "entregar" when talking about the skill of following, which means "to give in" or "to surrender" to the lead. In my mind, it only is possible when followers close their eyes (and gentlemen) keep their gaze unfocused.
