Dimension: Speed - Theme: Combination with pivots and giros I

In this class, we worked on how to change speed using pivots and giros. For intermediates, we saw a variety of combinations using the famous and classic entry to the ocho step. Bring it on Pugliese, we're ready!

14.07 Special Milonga with Daniel Pereyra

Join the party before it officially starts: We are excited to announce the pre-CHE LONDON FESTIVAL’s extended milonga this Sunday with famous musicalizador Daniel Pereyra!

Originally from Uruguay, Daniel has extensively DJed for LA VIRUTA de Luis Solanas in Buenos Aires, in the most established milongas & festivals of Buenos Aires and abroad, including the Mundial (Worldwide Tango Championships in B.A.) and the oldest Festival worldwide: Viva El Tango (32th edition in 2019). He also represented officially Uruguay for the festivities of the 100th anniversary of La Cumparsita; and has been on tour for the last 6 years – visiting and DJing in nearly 100 cities.

Recognized as one of the most important world musicalizadores, he received the title of Artist, for his work of musicalizador from the government of Uruguay – first to be honored with this title. He is also professor of musicalizacion, musicality, culture and history of Tango. He taught DJing and culture and history of Tango in the universitad del Tango de Buenos-Aires.

Don’t miss this unique occasion to listen to him!

We will also run a workshop focusing using fluid changes of height and levels, to play with dynamics and refine the lead. You will be surprised how much impact it can have on the feeling and sensation of the dance!

In this class, we focused on how to change speed using pivots and giros. For intermediates, we saw a lovely sequence using giro, sacada, planeo and barrida. A great addition to add some umpf to your tango repertoire.

Ganchos, these emblematic tango steps! Ganchos are steps where one partner (often the follower) kicks under the other's leg and enganches are steps where one partner (again normally the follower) wraps one leg around the partner's leg. In this class, we saw a few classic combinations of both ganchos and enganches

Playing with different time signatures, e.g when the leader and the follower don't follow the same rythm, is an incredibly powerful tool to add spice and personality to your tango. In this class, we looked at some classic steps that use different time signatures.

If we ran a survey, milongueros across the world would probably say that colgadas are the scariiiiiest step there is! Don't fret though, in this class, we saw how to use the concept of shared axis in a safe, fun and beautiful way.
