Yesterday, we came up with a slightly different theme for our Improvers class… Usually, we study variations around steps or energy but yesterday we decided to do: ‘steps that Nathalie (that would be me) likes’! I thought it could be fun to teach followers some of the steps I find sexy and feminine and to teach leaders how to lead steps I like. You can never have too many leaders trained to lead steps you like, can you? 😉

So that made me think about why I like the steps and sequences I like – which is a very very very philosophical question in itself.

Well, the first step is about the only tango step I know which allows for some hip movements. It’s feminine, delicate and sexy, and that’s why I like it.

The second one is a parada coming out of an ocho, and it’s one where the leader quickly changes dynamics (quick and pause) and height (by going down during the pivot). So that’s what I like about it: it’s quick, it’s different, it’s surprising (a good one).

And the third step is a variation of the second one, except that after the pivot, the leader changes directions and takes the follower backwards, which is a great opportunity for adornments.

So I guess, here are a few of the reasons why I like the steps I like. They’re sexy. They’re feminine. They’re playful. They’re suprising. They provide great opportunities for adornments.

If you want to check out how we teach, have a look at our tango group class or book a tango private lesson.

See you soon on the dance floor!

Abrazo,

Nathalie
