What defines tango elegance… What makes certain dancers stand out on the dancefloor? An ever elusive question that will get some answers to in this workshop by high-profile dancers, teachers, performers and world champions Cristina Sosa & Daniel Nacucchio.
– How to achieve a beautiful caminata
– How to read and interpret the “compas”, the tango rhythm
– How to effectively manage space
– Sequences Cristina and Daniel’s style!

In this unmissable workshop run by the Tango World Champions 2008, you’ll get a chance to focus on milonga.

Daniel and Cristina often say: “if you are not smiling when dancing milonga, you are not really dancing milonga!” There is no-one better than them to take your milonga to the next level. You know that milonga should feel and look different from tango but if you are not entirely clear how to achieve that, this workshop should answer all your questions.

As they say in Buenos Aires, Tango is nothing more (and nothing less) than an embrace, an “abrazo”. If you are looking to build a beautiful posture and comfortable embrace, look no further. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to position your body and to communicate effectively using the embrace. For those of you who are looking to take your dancing to the next level by concentrating on what is central to tango – the connexion -, don’t miss this special masterclass by the world reknown Roberto Zuccarino.

Great improvisational tango dancers are not thinking ocho, ocho cortado, giro… Nor are they thinking parallel system, cross system, single time, double time… Great dancers have internalized this information to the point they no longer have to think about much at all. They have learned how the steps, figures, patterns and structural elements feel on a crowded dance floor.

Sacada time! This workshop will give you the tools to create forward and backward sacadas. Once mastered, sacadas are a necessary addition to any repertoire of steps. However, sacadas, especially backwards can be a bit daunting. Get the timing wrong and you step on your partner’s toes! In this workshop, you will put your worries to rest and truly master these impactful steps.

Tango music is not linear by any means. Sometimes, the ryhthm grabs you and your feet seem to go faster by their own accord. Sometimes, a pause in the music sneaks up on you and this is exactly when you’d want to use pauses and suspensions.

If you want to take your dancing to the next level and develop your musicality, this is the class for you. Now is your chance to get to grips with the most important concept of all in tango, how the music is structured and how you can use this to enhance your dancing.

Vals tandas are undoubtedly the most expected tandas in a milonga. Vals makes you swoon, makes you twitch, makes your feet start to move of their own accord… In a milonga, vals tandas also come only about once an hour, so you’d better get it right!
– Fundamental concepts to dance to vals music.
– Changes of dynamics.
– Circular sequences with vals rhythm.

Roberto’s effortless elegance in the purest tango salón style, his generosity and the precision of his teaching makes him some of the most sought after teacher and performer of our days.

Variaciones, these circular movements performed at great velocity and sustained for a prolonged time, often at the end of rythmical tunes can be truly extraordinary but they are also challenging. So, how does the dancer go about generating sustained velocity?

Life in tango isn’t always easy. You enter this fabulous milonga, with the orchestra playing your favourite tunes only to suddenly realise that the floor is very crowded and that the space left to dance for each couple is very limited. And the dancers don’t seem to move much forward: sometimes it takes the whole song to move by mere metres. How do you adapt to this context?

If you don’t quite know what to do when a vals tanda comes up, this class is for you. Whether you’ve never danced vals or only have a little experience with tango’s sister dance, be sure that this workshop will take your skills so the next level.

You have seen the videos and were mesmerized by these beautiful tango steps where dancers seem to magically turn as one… If you’ve always wanted to try but never dared, here is a unique occasion to look at the dynamics and technique behind graceful and airy single axis turns.

Do you feel you would love to know what to do on these D’arienzo, Biagi, or Rodriguez tunes, and sometimes feel your feet do not always reflect what your ears perceive?

To get to grips with rhythmical orchestras or rhythmical sections of tango songs, don’t miss out this workshop.

Di Sarli makes you swoon and you would like your dancing to reflect how you feel? To be more expressive on slow, melodic tangos, don’t miss this musicality workshop.

– How to understand melodic songs from Di Sarli: phrasing, what to look for in the melody, the instruments
– Musicality: how to construct your dance
– Repertoire: a look at specific steps to use in melodic tangos, plus adornos for followers

Every tango dancer will agree: there is something special about Giros, and they can be simply beautiful to watch and to execute when the connection is precise and sustained. This is what you will explore with this workshop. You will learn:
– The fundamental technique behind Giros, for both roles and the use of intention
– Meaning and use of disassociation
– Coordination and timing
