If you close your eyes for a moment and think about tango, it's very likely that one of the first images to come to mind will be one of a... bandoneón. But where does this fabulous instrument come from?Over time, Francisco Canaro became such a significant part of tango, that referring to him became part of common language in Argentina. In the 1950's, a radio program coined a phrase to refer to any extremely old event: "When Canaro already had his orchestra". Another popular say was: "He's got more money than Canaro".
Happy birthday D'Arienzo! Juan D'Arienzo was born 114 years ago and more than anyone, he changed the way we dance tango today. Some people even say that without D'Arienzo, we might not be dancing tango today...

The first tango with written lyrics is widely thought to be "Dame la lata", composed by Juan Perez around 1880.
