Dimension: Energy - Theme: Varying the energy at the cross

The cross is such a classic step, it's nice to know ways to play with it to match the music. We started the class with the salida cruzada. We then moved to a step called la salida de los cuarentas, we also added 2 adornments at the cross and last finished with an original cross/sandwich step that we are very fond of.

Dimension: Energy - Theme: High energy steps

In this class, we had a look at rebounds in backward ochos for beginners & improvers. We then put a bit more energy in the step to create what we like to call baby backward ochos. We also had a look at baby forward ochos and how to link both.

Dimension: Axis - Theme: Volcadas

Volcadas are beautiful out of axis steps where the follower leans forward onto her partner. There are quite a few versions, the main ones being circular vs linear volcadas.

Dimension: Axis - Theme: Planeos

Planeos... Another beautiful, aerial tango family step. In the beginner class, we started with two classic planeos, one from the backward ocho and the other from the forward ocho. In the second class, we were a bit more adventurous and saw an off-axis planeo, a planeo on both legs and a very nice planeo from a sentada (a personal favourite)

Dimension: Axis - Theme: Linear volcadas

In this class, for beginners and improvers, we saw a simple pivot from the sandwich - we really like this step, it's cute and romantic. We then moved on to a first linear volcada from the back cross (a classic) and another linear volcada with the follower's right leg (much more original).

Dimension: Axis - Theme: Pasadas/paradas

To start our new term, we focused on paradas and pasadas, these steps where the follower steps over the leader's leg. We started with a simple combination for beginners and then explored a pasada in backward ocho followed by a single axis turn for the intermediates and up. Challenging but also beautiful!

Dimension: Immersion - Theme: Steps inspired by Giraldo Portalea

Giraldo Portalea is very famous for his unique combinations, his smooth dancing and his cadencia. In this class, we started with the Americana before exploring some of Portalea's signature moves: a mix between back cross and backward ocho, a single axis turn from a unique entry point, and an Americana using counter-energy.
