… the “Gentleman of Tango” is the nickname given to Carlos Di Sarli, the Argentine pianist, compositor and orchestra leader who created many of the beautiful songs we still dance on today.

At the start of his career, his music had a simple structure, but over time it matured into a more lyrical, richer, playful and subtle style. Throughout his career, Di Sarli maintained in all his music a clear dancing beat. His clear rhythm makes him a favourite of beginner dancers, while established milongueros can enjoy the complexity and variations of his creations.

For this reason, Di Sarli’s orchestra was among the most popular ones during the Golden Age and can still be heard at milongas in Buenos Aires and around the world today.

Di Sarli will be our orchestra until the end of our academic year, and we’ll post more blogs about his career, personality and music.
