1. EAT

This is without a doubt my favourite part of warming up and its importance is often overlooked. No matter how well you try to prepare your body physically, it won’t be able to perform at its best or be at its strongest if it doesn’t have the energy to work with. So make sure you have something to eat during the day before class or even before a milonga.

To stop you from feeling a bit sluggish on the dance floor, try eating foods rich in carbohydrates, pasta or cereal for instance, as energy from this is released slowly and will keep you energised throughout your dancing. Tip: bananas have been proven to be very good for concentration, so if you struggle to stay focussed during the whole class, try eating one before and see if you can notice the difference!
