Our tango group classes

Our beginner course runs for 2 months, the perfect format to explore tango – an intimate, passionate, exciting, sensual, fiery and playful dance. Just enough time to fall in love with it too!

During the course, we cover:

• Fundamental tango technique – posture and walking, balance, embrace, the basics of leading & following
• The fundamental tango steps
• A fun exploration of tango music and culture: during the class, we introduce a new orchestra every 2 months so that you get you used to different rythms; we translate songs and give tips about how to best enjoy milongas, the tango parties where everything comes together like magic.

Our Discovery Course is flexible:

• You can drop by any time and take classes in any order – there is no “first” and “last” class, there are all independent (but building the tango fundamentals together).
• You can take the full course in one go or hop in and out of it, resuming when you can.
• In a rush? You can take two beginner classes a week and complete the Discovery Course in half the time.
• Some students choose to follow the course twice – they learn something new every time, and getting a good understanding of the tango fundamentals strengthens their core tango skills and serves as a solid fundation to further develop their tango self.

In these classes, we will:

• further improve your understanding and mastery of tango fundamental technique
• continue building up your repertoire of steps
• help developing your creativity, exploring adornments that best suit your personality
• continue and explore one new orchestra every two months, provide you with new lyric translations, discuss milonga etiquette and how to manage the dance floor

We focus on helping you build your own sequences of steps, so that you can dance to the music and develop your tango ‘self’ inside out. If you pre-pay for your classes, you’ll be in for a nice discount.

When you are capable of confidently leading and following the core steps and their variants, mix them with fluidity and great ease, with a deep understanding of the fundamentals of tango (embrace, posture, musicality), now is the time to move to the advanced class.

In these classes, we will:

• explore more advanced technique

• explore more adventurous steps. New forms of ganchos, boleos etc will pop up at this stage, and by then, you should have the confidence to manage them on the dance floor without getting a TASBO (Tango Anti Social Behaviour Order).
