You might be a teeny bit anxious about attending your first tango class: you might feel you have as much natural flair as Silvio Berlusconi (or DSK!) has trouser control, but don’t fear, everyone feels like that on their first day. First times can be scary but a first time only lasts, well, once. So, have fun, give it a go. Practice makes perfect, they say.
The Big Secret: to laugh it off
Wonder how to approach your first class? Simple: when you make a mistake (no one’s perfect!), laugh it off. Yes, we’re all here to learn but we’re not back to school. The most crucial point is to enjoy yourself. And when things start to work, it simply is the most wonderful feeling in the world. So… forgive your two left feet, and trust yourself: you will be able to dance, guaranteed. But don’t listen to us: instead, listen to what our students say about learning tango and about joining their classes:
We’ve got a plan to make it easy for you: our SPEED methodology
-
Structured classes during which we frame the purpose of each exercise because we think you will learn better if you understand what it is that you are supposed to be learning!
-
A methodology that simplifies the approach to learning, by focusing on the five fundamentals, hence avoiding the trap of being lost in details.
-
A focus on the tango core steps and not lengthy sequences, to help you develop your tango ‘self’ and creativity.
-
Homework, that dreaded word that conjures up all kinds of awful. It is of course completely optional. There will be no name and shame and no pressure. We know you’re busy people.
Ready? Join our Tango Group or Private classes!
All regular Group classes are 90 minutes, followed by a 30-minute free ‘practica’ (practice, with music). Group classes are drop-in without booking and no partner is needed. They are by skill level: complete beginners / recent beginners, improvers (after about 20-40 hours of tango tuition), and intermediates. Please see below our schedule or visit our Group classes page for more details on each level.
If you prefer to start with a private class (many do), please visit the Private classes page or send us a mail.
So, how about enjoying 2 hours of sheer dance fun and make your day a happy one? What could be any better than adding a spring to your step?
