Every Tuesday, we’ll publish a different tanda on our blog, to get you inspired for the week. Expect some humming or little twitches from your foot – better not fight it.

This week is a tango tanda by Ángel D’agostino.

Ángel D’Agostino, pianist and director was also an excellent dancer, who built on D’arienzo strong and clear beat but made it smoother and softer. Ángel Vargas was an ideal choice as a singer – tasteful and never over the top. Together, they’re often referred to as the two angels.

Their carefully selected repertoire is quite melancholy and relies strongly on songs with lyrics from D’agostino’s friend Enrique Cadícamo.

Adios arrabal is a beautiful song and a great example of playful musical adornments and clear tango “fraseo”.
